18,200 Passengers Used the Service Last Year... Concentrated in August and During Holiday Periods

The number of passengers traveling with pets on Jeju Air has been found to increase by more than 26% in months that include holiday periods such as traditional holidays.

According to Jeju Air on February 19, the number of passengers traveling with pets last year totaled 18,200. In particular, during traditional holiday periods such as Lunar New Year and Chuseok, and during the August summer vacation season, up to 1,900 passengers used the service, which is a 26.6% increase compared with the monthly average of 1,500.

Jeju Air expects the number of passengers with reservations for this February, which includes the Lunar New Year holiday, to exceed 2,000. In fact, the number of passengers on February 14, when the holiday period began, surpassed 120 in a single day. This is analyzed as being influenced by the increase in so-called "pet family" (Pet+Family) travelers who regard their pets as family members.

Jeju Air limits the number of pets allowed in the cabin to six and permits a maximum weight of 9 kg including the carrier. The pet transportation service fee is 25,000 won for domestic routes, and between 70,000 and 100,000 won for international routes depending on the sector.

It is recommended to apply for pet transportation at the time of booking the flight ticket. For domestic routes, applications can be made via the website or customer center up to 24 hours before departure, while for international routes, passengers must use the customer center. For overseas travel, it is essential to check precautions such as vaccination periods, as quarantine regulations vary by country.

A Jeju Air official said, "By using the pet membership, customers can enjoy benefits such as unlimited annual travel with pets and an additional 5 kg of checked baggage," adding, "We will continue to provide services that reduce the burden on customers traveling with pets and enhance their convenience."
