LG AI Research has released an AI Ethics Accountability Report that outlines its efforts to realize responsible and inclusive AI.

On the 19th, LG AI Research announced that it had published the AI Ethics Accountability Report, which includes case studies on the implementation of AI ethics at major affiliates such as LG Electronics and LG Uplus.

Since 2023, LG has been the only company in the world to annually disclose the status of its implementation of UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

Lee Hongrak, co-research director at LG AI Research, said, "Rather than responding passively to ever-changing regulations such as the enforcement of the Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence, LG aims to proactively establish the safety and trustworthiness of technology so that customers and society can feel secure and everyone can enjoy the benefits of AI. This is the fundamental value LG seeks to pursue through AI."

Lim Woohyung, co-research director at LG AI Research, said, "We will work to ensure that the benefits of technological innovation are not concentrated only among a few, and that AI can earn the trust of society," adding, "We will continue to prove the value of trust, which does not change even in an era of uncertainty."

Meanwhile, in 2022 LG announced the "LG AI Ethics Principles," which set out the proper behavior and standards of value judgment that LG members must follow when developing and using AI. It identified respect for human dignity, fairness, safety, accountability, and transparency as its five core values.

At the regular shareholders' meeting in March last year, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwangmo stressed, "We need a shift in perception to view compliance as a core infrastructure for corporate growth and development, and in this shift in perception, no LG member can be an exception."
