Doosan Enerbility announced on the 18th that it has signed a contract worth approximately 320 billion won with its subsidiary Doosan Skoda Power for the supply of steam turbines and turbine control systems for Units 5 and 6 of the new Dukovany nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic.

The signing ceremony, held on the 16th (local time) in Prague, Czech Republic, took place with the ministers of industry from Korea and the Czech Republic in attendance.

In June last year, the Czech government signed the main contract for the construction of the newly promoted Dukovany Units 5 and 6 nuclear power plant with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, thereby launching full-fledged cooperation with so-called "Team Korea." The contract signed this time is the first large-scale cooperation agreement that Team Korea has concluded with a local Czech company, and it is part of the localization efforts emphasized by the Czech government from the early stages of the project. The contract covers steam turbines, generators, and turbine control systems, and supplies are planned for a total of two units.

In particular, this contract marks the first new nuclear power plant construction project in which Doosan Enerbility and Doosan Skoda Power are collaborating. Doosan Enerbility plans to maximize synergies by combining the extensive manufacturing experience of its Czech subsidiary with its own technological capabilities in core nuclear power plant equipment. Based on the successful execution of this project, Doosan Enerbility expects that, if Team Korea wins additional nuclear power projects such as Units 3 and 4 of the Temelin nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic, it will be able to continue its collaboration with Doosan Skoda Power.

Doosan Skoda Power is a power generation equipment specialist with a history of more than 150 years and has supplied 26 nuclear steam turbines to three countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Finland. To date, it has delivered more than 540 steam turbines to the global power generation market.

Son Seungwoo, Head of Power Service Business Group at Doosan Enerbility, said, "This contract is a meaningful case of creating synergies by combining domestic nuclear power technology with local manufacturing capabilities in the Czech new nuclear power plant project," adding, "We will work closely with Doosan Skoda Power to successfully complete the Czech nuclear power project and do our utmost to contribute to the development of the Czech power industry."
