Mayor Joo began his first schedule of the day in the afternoon by visiting the Namyangju City Animal Protection Center and the Companion Animal Adoption Culture Center in Ipae-dong. He encouraged the nine staff members on duty at the centers, including resident animal care managers, and closely examined the management system that covers every step from capturing and protecting abandoned animals to their adoption.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok said, "Thank you for carrying out the invaluable duty of caring for life even during the holiday period," and asked, "Please pay meticulous attention so that there are no gaps in animal protection and management."
Currently, a total of nine staff members, including animal care managers and adoption coordinators, are stationed at the center and are doing their utmost in managing the hygiene and diseases of abandoned animals and providing adoption counseling.
Mayor Joo then visited the City Hall duty office and the Dasan 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center in succession to inspect the status of overall situation-room operations. During this Lunar New Year holiday, Namyangju City has put more than 330 employees on emergency duty across 32 departments in 13 areas, including disaster response, to maintain a 24-hour response system.
