A is suspected of attempting to sell, through a secondhand marketplace app, a jumper he stole from a clothing store in Paldal District, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, at around 10:00 p.m. on February 15. Earlier, the store owner, referred to as B, who is the victim in this case, discovered while organizing inventory in the warehouse that jumpers and other clothing items were missing and reported it to the police. Later, while browsing the secondhand marketplace app, he saw the stolen items listed for sale, reported it to the police again at 7:17 p.m. the same day, and then arranged a meeting with A and went out to the agreed transaction location.
At the transaction location, the police approached A and asked to confirm his identity. A then suddenly drove off in the SUV he had arrived in. During his escape, he allegedly dragged one police officer with the vehicle for more than 10 meters, causing the officer to suffer bruises. The injured officer fell from the vehicle but was reportedly not seriously hurt. The police then tracked the vehicle’s license plate number and arrested A in a restroom of a nearby commercial building 45 minutes after the incident occurred.
A is reported to be denying some of the charges. The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant while questioning A to determine the exact details of the crime. A police official said, "We will only know when the investigation is completed about when the suspect started stealing, what methods he used, and how many clothing items he stole."
