President Lee Jaemyung said on the 17th, the Lunar New Year holiday, "We will move forward, step by step and without wavering, using the vision of the Republic of Korea that the people desire as our guiding milestone."
In a video released that day, President Lee said, "On the morning of the Lunar New Year in the Year of Byeongo, I would like to share my resolution as the 'President for All,' who embraces and serves every citizen." He went on, "Just as we encouraged one another and overcame difficulties over the past year, I hope that in the new year our society will also move forward together, grounded in warm solidarity and mutual trust."
President Lee explained, "Because we live different lives in different places and in different ways, our perspectives and thoughts about the world can naturally diverge." However, he stressed, "But no matter where or how we live, our wish for our children to grow up in a better environment is no different, our desire for the health of our families and neighbors is no different, and what young people and seniors hope for is no different either."
President Lee also said, "Over the past year, thanks to the strength and unity shown by all of you, everything is returning to its proper place faster than expected," adding, "I express my deep gratitude to all sovereign citizens who have protected this country on the streets, in your homes, and in your workplaces."
First Lady Kim Hyekyung, who appeared together with President Lee, said, "I pray that your homes will be filled with health and happiness this year as well."
Meanwhile, before and after the main message, the video featured Lunar New Year greetings sent by ordinary citizens from across the country. On the 15th of last month, President Lee had asked the public via Facebook to send in their own New Year video messages.
