After sitting in third place in the early stages, Choi moved up to second by cutting inside with six laps to go, then attacked the inside again with five laps remaining to take the lead. She held her position to the end and was the first to cross the finish line in 1 minute 26.925 seconds. Her preliminary time ranked first overall.
Noh Dohee finished second in heat 2 behind Hanne Desmet of Belgium, clocking 1 minute 30.097 seconds. Noh maintained third place before moving up to second with six laps to go and held that position to the finish.
Kim Gilli took first place in the final heat, heat 8. Starting from lane 1, she initially settled into second place, then moved into the lead with seven laps remaining and kept her position to the end, finishing in 1 minute 29.656 seconds.
