The police conducted searches and seizures of the National Assembly and other locations on February 12 in connection with the 2024 stabbing attack on President Lee Jaemyung, who was then the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
The Task Force for the Investigation of the Gadeokdo Terror Incident under the National Office of Investigation at the Korean National Police Agency announced that, starting from 4:30 p.m. that day, it had been carrying out searches and seizures at the National Intelligence Service, the Counter-Terrorism Center of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and the Intelligence Committee of the National Assembly, among others.
Previously, on January 20, the government held the 22nd National Counter-Terrorism Commission meeting, presided over by the prime minister, and defined the attack on President Lee as an act of terrorism. After that, the National Office of Investigation established a task force under the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to investigate the case.
