On February 12, the KOSPI index hit a new record high, boosted by rising share prices of semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
On this day, the KOSPI opened at 5,425.39, up 70.90 points (1.32%) from the previous trading day.
This is the first time in history that the KOSPI index has exceeded the 5,400-point level.
