Cumulative Orders Reach 1.2 Billion Dollars This Year
Achieving 9% of Annual Order Target
Diversifying Ship Types Across LNG, Ethane, Container, and Crude Oil Carriers
Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 11th that it has won an order worth 468.6 billion won for two container ships from a shipping company in the African region. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by May 2028.
With this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative orders for this year have reached a total of seven vessels, amounting to 1.2 billion dollars. This represents about 9% of its annual order target of 13.9 billion dollars.
By ship type, the company has secured orders across a diverse range, including two LNG carriers, two ethane carriers, two container ships, and one crude oil tanker.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "For container ships, replacement demand is expected to continue, mainly for vessels in the 8,000 to 13,000 TEU class, where the proportion of aging ships is high," adding, "Based on our competitive edge in eco-friendly technologies, we will continue to pursue an order strategy focused on profitability."
