Officer says it was "to show frontline police are struggling"
Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi conducting inspection...vows stern action
The public has been shocked to learn that a police officer dispatched to handle the scene of a death case posted content online that appeared to mock the deceased.
On the 9th, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced that it is conducting an internal investigation into Inspector A, who belongs to a police substation under the jurisdiction of the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province.
Inspector A is reported to have posted on their social media (SNS) a photo of the scene taken after being dispatched to the site of an unnatural death case that occurred in Gwangmyeong on the 6th, along with phrases such as "Anyone want to guess what this is?"
They even posted a message that appeared to insult the deceased, saying "I should stop eating seonji (Korean blood pudding) from now on," together with a photo that appears to show bloodstains. The post was deleted the same day, but it had already spread through captured images.
The police are considering measures such as suspending Inspector A from duty. An official at the Gwangmyeong Police Station said, "Inspector A stated that they posted it with the intention of showing that frontline officers are having a hard time," adding, "We have launched an internal investigation, and we will take strict action depending on the results."
