Signing of AI Education and Research Cooperation MOU...Promoting Credit Exchange, Joint Research, and Training Programs
Soonchunhyang University and the Korean National Police University have joined hands to strengthen cooperation in education and research in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Accordingly, the two institutions will work to cultivate professionals who will lead the future policing and public safety sectors through AI-based convergence education and joint research.
On February 9, Soonchunhyang University and the Korean National Police University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic exchange in AI and mutual development at the university president's reception room and the medium conference room of Soonchunhyang University.
The purpose of this agreement is to foster convergence-type talent through education and research cooperation centered on AI, and to build a cooperation system that links educational innovation to the strengthening of public safety capabilities.
The two institutions agreed to promote cooperation in the following areas: cooperation in credit exchange and curriculum operation; joint development of major programs and convergence education programs; support for joint academic projects and student research activities; joint operation of domestic and overseas short-term training and AI academic programs; joint use of educational and research facilities and infrastructure; and training programs to strengthen software (SW) and AI capabilities for faculty and staff.
In particular, this agreement is considered significant in that it presents a cooperation model in which AI-based educational collaboration can lead to innovation in policing and public safety.
Soonchunhyang University plans to gradually expand joint programs and research projects with the Korean National Police University based on its accumulated AI education and research capabilities built through the Software-Centered University Project.
President Song Byoungguk said, "This is a new cooperation model in which the cultivation of convergence-type talent and educational innovation needed in the AI era leads to the strengthening of safety capabilities in future society," adding, "We will actively support the achievement of tangible results by combining the expertise and infrastructure of both institutions."
Dean Kim Sunghee of the Korean National Police University said, "Educational and research innovation is essential to respond to changes in the AI-based policing and safety environment," and added, "We will further strengthen future-oriented talent development and academic exchange through cooperation with Soonchunhyang University."
Meanwhile, this agreement is valid for three years from the date of signing and will be automatically extended on a yearly basis unless a separate termination notice is given. For the efficient implementation of the agreement, the two institutions will designate working-level departments and, if necessary, hold at least one working-level consultative meeting per year to review and discuss cooperation measures.
