The Shilla Seoul announced on the 9th that it will exclusively introduce in Korea a new limited-edition release of the traditional single malt whisky The Balvenie.

The Balvenie 20-Year-Old Peated Sherry Cask will be sold in a limited quantity of 100 bottles at The Distillers Library, the luxury whisky boutique and lounge at The Shilla Seoul.

The Balvenie 20-Year-Old Peated Sherry Cask is the second edition in the Curious Cask collection, which showcases rare casks discovered in The Balvenie’s warehouses. Curious Cask is a line of limited-edition whiskies unearthed through The Balvenie’s history and boundless curiosity, and is regarded as having particularly high collectible value.

This newly released product is characterized by the use of peated spirit that The Balvenie produces only one week per year. After an initial maturation in American oak, it is aged for an extended period in top-quality European Oak Sherry Butts, resulting in a deeply layered flavor profile.

Centered on the rich sweetness of the sherry cask, this whisky balances roasted fruit and nutty malt notes with restrained smoke. It offers sweet aromas of burnt sugar, marshmallow, and dried fruit, followed by a harmonious finish evoking the stone-fruit flavors of flame-grilled peaches and apricots.

Meanwhile, The Distillers Library, which opened at The Shilla Seoul in 2024, is a whisky boutique and lounge that serves as a premium whisky-specialized space where guests can experience in one place well-aged whiskies from William Grant & Sons, including The Balvenie and Glenfiddich.
