On the 8th (local time), at the Livigno Snowpark in Italy, he recorded a combined time of 1 minute 26.74 seconds over his first and second runs in the men's snowboard parallel giant slalom qualifying, finishing sixth and advancing to the finals, where 16 riders compete.
Lee Sangho finished sixth in the qualifying round of the men's snowboard parallel giant slalom at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and advanced to the finals. Provided by the International Ski Federation.
In snowboard parallel giant slalom, 32 riders compete in pairs, racing once each on the blue and red courses. Based on their combined times, the top 16 advance to the knockout stage. On this day, places from the round of 16 through the final will be decided in single-elimination heats.
Lee Sangho is the silver medalist in this event from the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. Overcoming the disappointment of a quarterfinal exit at the 2022 Beijing Games, he is challenging for his second Olympic medal. If Lee wins a medal, it will be Korea's 400th Olympic medal across both the Summer and Winter Games.
In the men's event, Kim Sangkyum (High1) also advanced to the round of 16, finishing eighth with a combined time of 1 minute 27.18 seconds over his two runs. Cho Wanhee (Jeonbuk Ski Association) placed 18th with 1 minute 27.76 seconds and failed to reach the finals.
Forty-five-year-old veteran Roland Fischnaller of Italy, the world No. 1, advanced to the finals with the fastest overall time of 1 minute 25.13 seconds. Fischnaller is the dominant rider this season, having claimed three victories in the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup.
