Gyeongju Munmudaewang-myeon Wildfire's Main Blaze Contained After About 20 Hours

The main fire of the forest fire in Munmudaewang-myeon, Gyeongju City, North Gyeongsang Province, which had spread on strong winds, was brought under control after about 20 hours.


The Korea Forest Service announced that it had completely contained the main blaze of the forest fire on the afternoon of the 8th, the second day after the fire broke out, in a low mountain area in Ipcheon-ri, Munmudaewang-myeon.

The fire had first started at around 9:40 p.m. the previous day in the Ipcheon-ri area. Authorities conducted overnight firefighting operations, but the flames continued to spread on strong winds through the afternoon of the 8th.


The forest-fire-affected area from this blaze was tallied at 54 hectares, with a fire line of 3.7 kilometers.
