Supporting a warm holiday for energy-vulnerable households
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province announced that on the 5th, the Samsung Electronics Smart City Gumi Support Center delivered 950 boxes of Hope Windmill Sets and 3,000 briquettes at the Geumo General Social Welfare Center to mark the Lunar New Year holiday.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Ryu Ilgon, head of the Samsung Electronics Gumi Support Center, members of the Samsung Electronics Hanmaeum Council, the Hanmaeum Housewives Volunteer Group, Venerable Beopdeung, head of the Jabi Nanum Energy Bank, Lee Buhong, director of the Gumi General Social Welfare Center, and Kim Hwiyeon, director of the Geumo General Social Welfare Center, among others.
The Hope Windmill Sets prepared by the Samsung Electronics Gumi Support Center consisted of rice, mixed grains, seaweed, dried shiitake mushrooms, dried gondre and other items, and were evenly distributed to 35 social welfare facilities in the city.
After the event, they visited two vulnerable households in Sangmo-Sagok-dong in person and delivered briquettes. A total of 3,000 briquettes were provided, with 300 briquettes for each of 10 energy-vulnerable households during the winter, offering practical help in easing the burden of living in the cold wave.
The initiative went beyond simply providing goods, adding meaning by visiting the community in person and sharing in caring for neighbors during the winter.
Hwang Eunchae, Director of the Social Welfare Bureau, said, "I would like to thank the Samsung Electronics Gumi Support Center for consistently providing Hope Windmill items every holiday and, this year, even preparing briquettes that are essential for heating," adding, "Gumi City will continue to cooperate with the private sector to ensure a warm holiday in which no one is left out."
