"What a Roller-Coaster Season"...Israeli Bobsleigh Team Has Valuables and Passports Stolen

Theft at Israeli Bobsleigh Team Accommodation
Thief Breaks into Apartment Near Cortina d'Ampezzo
Passports and Valuables Stolen, Local Police Launch Investigation

A thief broke into the accommodation of the Israeli bobsleigh national team.

AJ Edelman, the pilot of the Israeli bobsleigh national team, wrote on his social media account on the 8th (local time), "A thief broke into the apartment we were using as a training accommodation and took away items worth thousands of dollars and our passports. What a roller-coaster of a season." Ahead of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, a theft occurred at the apartment being used as a training base, with the intruder stealing valuables belonging to the athletes.

The thief stole passports, training equipment, suitcases, shoes, and other items from the apartment where the athletes were staying. Some members of the national team had not yet arrived in Italy, and the athletes were scheduled to stay at this accommodation until next week. The local police have launched an investigation.

Edelman, who competed in skeleton at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games, will compete in bobsleigh at this Olympics. Israel will participate in both the two-man and four-man events, and Edelman will serve as the pilot in both. Israel had initially failed to secure a quota for the Olympics, but dramatically earned a place on the Olympic stage when the United Kingdom relinquished one of its allocated quota spots.
