In a small conference room, with department heads, section (team) chiefs, and all local police station chiefs in the jurisdiction in attendance, the February 2026 Crime Prevention and Response Strategy Meeting for a peaceful Lunar New Year was held from Monday, Feb. 9 to Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. Provided by Gumi Police Station.
The strategy meeting, hosted by the Crime Prevention and Response Division of the Gumi Police Station, was conducted based on detailed analysis materials covering the number of 112 emergency calls received and the types of incidents reported during the Lunar New Year holidays over the past three years.
In particular, as the Lunar New Year holiday period carries a high risk of various crimes such as domestic violence, phishing scams, theft, and drunk driving, customized prevention measures and countermeasures prepared by the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team (CPO) of the Gumi Police Station and each relevant department were reported.
The Gumi Police plan to respond proactively during the Lunar New Year holiday by having the head of the competent local police station or the patrol team leader personally attend the scene when an emergency call is received, and by ensuring swift command, communication, and strict action. They also plan to conduct preemptive, comprehensive inspections for domestic violence and child abuse, carry out strict investigations into crimes that threaten people’s livelihoods such as robbery and theft, and make all-out efforts to secure traffic safety on highways and connecting national roads for those traveling to and from their hometowns, in order to ensure a peaceful Lunar New Year holiday.
Gumi Police Chief Yoo Ojae stated, “By implementing special security measures for the Lunar New Year jointly carried out by all divisions and local police, and by continuously conducting visible crime prevention activities, we will do our utmost to foster a calm holiday atmosphere and to ensure the safety of citizens.”
