Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo) announced on the 6th that it held an "Internationalization Capacity-Building Workshop" at Hanwha Resort Geoje Belvedere over two days and one night from January 29 to 30.
This workshop was organized with the goal of ensuring stable operation and improving the quality of education in foreigner-friendly departments. It focused on strengthening the university's internationalization capacity and regional competitiveness by improving the learning environment for international students, securing global educational capabilities, and establishing an education management system that meets international standards.
A total of 25 people attended the workshop, including President Kim Youngdo, Director of the Office of International Affairs Kim Taekyung, the Dean of Student Welfare, the Dean of Academic Affairs, and professors in charge of international students. They shared key issues related to the overall education and support for international students.
On the first day, sessions were held on topics such as: building an integrated management system for international students, Busan-friendly support systems to help them settle in Busan, and a visa guide and counseling strategies for international students. Through presentations by professors in charge within the university and external experts, discussions were held on practical, work-centered cases and policy directions.
On the second day, the manual for the university-wide integrated management system for international students was presented, followed by group discussions where departments shared their operational cases and engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to improve the operation of foreigner-friendly departments.
In particular, in the sessions joined by the Busan Global City Foundation and external professional organizations, practical information that can be applied in the field was shared, including support measures to help international students settle in the region and strategies for visa counseling, drawing strong interest from the participants.
President Kim Youngdo said, "This workshop was a meaningful opportunity for the faculty to think together and explore directions for the stable operation of foreigner-friendly departments and the enhancement of educational quality," adding, "Based on what was discussed, we will continuously strengthen our internationalization capacity and create an educational environment that international students can trust."
Based on the outcomes of this workshop, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology plans to continuously improve its education and support systems for international students and to gradually implement follow-up programs to strengthen the international competencies of its faculty.
