[Breaking] KOSPI Opens Lower, Loses 5,000 Mark...Sell-Sidecar Triggered

The KOSPI index opened lower on the 6th and lost the 5,000 mark.


As of 9:02 a.m. on the same day, the KOSPI index was trading at 4,948.99, down 214.5 points (?4.16%) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ was also trading at 1,059.94, down 48.47 points (?4.37%) from the previous trading day.


At 9:06 a.m. on the same day, the Korea Exchange triggered a sell-sidecar on the KOSPI market. A sell-sidecar is a mechanism under which, if the KOSPI 200 futures remain in a declining state for one minute, the effectiveness of program-trading sell orders is suspended for five minutes.
