Issuance of Limited-Edition "Gijang Friends" Commemorative Stamps
Operation of the "Slow Mailbox" at the Jukseong Dream Film Set
On February 5, Gijang County signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gijang Post Office to promote "Gijang, a Healing Tourism City" and to expand stamp culture.
This agreement was pursued to enhance the value of Gijang's tourism city brand by capturing its abundant tourism resources and unique local stories in emotional content.
Under the agreement, Gijang County will provide a total of four types of promotional materials, including designs for the tourism character "Gijang Friends," which is inspired by local specialties such as anchovies and kelp, as well as award-winning works from a tourism photo contest. The Gijang Post Office will use these to produce and issue limited-edition commemorative stamps and postcards, and will be responsible for operating and managing the experiential tourism content known as the "Slow Mailbox."
The county plans to place an order for the character design service within this month and to issue four types of limited-edition commemorative stamps in May, which will be actively promoted through the county website and social media.
In addition, a "Slow Mailbox" will be installed at the Jukseong Dream Film Set, offering a special experience in which tourists write postcards on-site and receive them after a certain period of time has passed. By shedding new light on the analog value of "waiting" in a digital environment, it is expected to draw attention as an emotional tourism content that allows visitors to cherish their travel memories for a long time.
Jung Jongbok, Gijang County Governor, said, "Through cooperation with the Post Office, we are now able to capture Gijang's scenery and stories as cultural content in the form of stamps and postcards," adding, "I hope that more tourists will be able to experience the charm of Gijang through the limited-edition commemorative stamps and the Slow Mailbox featuring Gijang Friends."
Jung Jongbok, Mayor of Gijang County, and Heo Ji, Postmaster of Gijang Post Office, signed a memorandum of understanding and are posing for a commemorative photo.
