Hwang Myungseok, Interior Ministry Participation and Innovation Director General, Inaugurated as North Gyeongsang Administrative Vice Governor

North Gyeongsang Province announced that Hwang Myungseok (57), Director General of the Participation and Innovation Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, took office on the 5th as the 37th Administrative Vice Governor.


After receiving his letter of appointment from Governor Lee Cheolwoo on the same day, the new Vice Governor Hwang replaced an inauguration ceremony with a visit to sites rebuilding from wildfire damage, where he focused on meeting residents in person and addressing livelihood issues and everyday problems faced by provincial citizens.

Vice Governor Hwang, who is from Gyeongju, graduated from the Department of Public Law at Yeungnam University and completed the Graduate School of Public Policy at Korea University. He entered public service in 1997 by passing the second Local Public Administration Examination.


He is an administrative expert who has served in key positions such as Director of the Special Transactions Division at the Korea Fair Trade Commission, Administrative Officer at the Presidential Office’s Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs, and Parliamentary Affairs Officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. From December 2021, he also served as Director General of Policy Planning and Coordination at North Gyeongsang Province for 1 year and 2 months.


He has also held major posts at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, building extensive experience that spans both central and local administration, and is regarded as having excellent policy planning capabilities and strong field-oriented administrative execution.


North Gyeongsang Province is currently pursuing major pending issues such as the administrative integration of Daegu and North Gyeongsang, the promotion of post-APEC projects, the advancement of disaster response systems, and the recovery of the livelihood economy. In this situation, the province expects that the new Administrative Vice Governor Hwang, who has rich administrative experience at both the central and local levels, will play a major role in ensuring stable governance and resolving key issues.
