Wando-gun in South Jeolla Province is accelerating the development of the marine bio and marine healing industries as future strategic sectors. Wando-gun announced on the 4th that it recently held the "2026 1st Wando-gun Public Asset Review Committee" in the county office situation room and approved agenda items for managing the county's major assets and advancing strategic projects.
A total of six members, including civilian members and public official members, attended the review meeting, which was presided over by Vice Governor Lee Beomwoo, and held in-depth discussions on the acquisition, disposal, and management of public assets.

As a result of the review, all agenda items submitted were approved, including 12 cases of acquisition, 10 cases of abolishing use, and 2 cases of rent reduction. In particular, attention is focused on the fact that a large-scale investment project to build the foundation for Wando-gun's future growth engine, the marine bio industry, passed the review.
The county plans to strengthen industrial competitiveness by investing a total of 45 billion won to build a seaweed active ingredient certification and production facility (25 billion won) and a seaweed bio smart factory (20 billion won).
A plan to improve residential conditions to vitalize the marine healing industry was also finalized. To support stable housing for workers in the marine healing industry, an agenda item for constructing "residential facilities to support regional strategic industries," with a project scale of 10.8 billion won, was approved.
Land purchases to expand cultural and tourism infrastructure will also move into full swing. With the approval, as originally proposed, of the land purchase plan to promote tourism at Sinji Myeongsasipri, the county’s flagship tourist destination, and the land purchase plan for the construction of the "Jang Bogo Great Master Memorial Tower," the county is expected to gain momentum in enhancing its cultural value and attracting tourists.
Support measures to help revive the livelihood economy have also been prepared. To assist small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn, the county approved the "extension of the application period for easing the burden of public asset rent," thereby deciding to reduce the burden on local commercial districts.
In addition, the county decided to abolish the designated use for 10 parcels of county-owned land that are no longer used for administrative purposes and have low utilization value. These parcels will be converted into general assets and either sold or used for new public purposes in the future, with the aim of improving the efficiency of asset management.
Vice Governor Lee Beomwoo said, "We will faithfully implement the agenda items finalized at this review meeting to invigorate the local economy," adding, "We will also focus our administrative capacity on follow-up management so that residents can clearly feel the results of the major projects."
