Non-Face-to-Face Management Using AI and IoT
First-Come, First-Served for 150 Seniors Aged 65 and Older
Damyang County in South Jeolla Province is launching a smart health management service that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to help senior citizens take care of their own health.
According to Damyang County on the 4th, the county will begin accepting applications from this day on a first-come, first-served basis from 150 local seniors who wish to participate in the "AI and IoT-Based Senior Health Management Program."
This program is a service that allows participants to receive personalized, expert health management remotely, regardless of time and place.
Eligible participants are seniors aged 65 or older who own a smartphone in their own name and are able to use it. Priority will be given to those who need to improve health behaviors such as smoking, frequent drinking, and lack of physical activity, and starting this year, the program has been expanded to include those who have been assessed and assigned a long-term care grade.
Selected participants will be able to borrow, free of charge, one or two types of smart devices suited to their individual health conditions, such as a wrist activity tracker, a body composition analyzer, a blood pressure monitor, and a blood glucose meter.
After undergoing a preliminary health screening, participants will use the provided devices over a six-month period to receive remote health consulting and customized education from public health center experts.
The county plans to encourage continued participation by offering small incentive gifts to participants who successfully complete health missions such as taking medications on time and walking every day.
Applications can be made either by visiting the Damyang County Public Health Center in person or by applying over the phone.
An official from Damyang County said, "We hope that this project, which incorporates the latest information and communication technologies, will help senior citizens experience the joy of managing their own health and lead a vibrant later life," adding, "We ask for great interest and active participation from local seniors."
