According to the National Police Agency, these bonuses are being granted as part of the "2nd Special Performance Bonus" program, and cases that showed remarkable performance in on-site response, such as the swift arrest of a robbery-murder suspect at a jewelry shop, were selected.

Key recipients include Inspector Lim Eunkyo and Sergeant Kim Mincheol of the Jongno Police Station in Seoul, who, last month, urgently arrested a suspect who killed a shop owner at a jewelry store in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, and fled the scene, capturing him within six minutes of commencing a search in the Jongno area. Each of them will receive a bonus of 5 million won.

Other award-winning cases include Inspector Ham Byeonghee of the Jeju Seobu Police Station, who rescued a voice phishing victim who had departed for China through coordination with the local consulate, and Inspector Kim Jeongwon of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Mobile Unit, who apprehended an illegally subcontracted company involved in safety inspection services. In total, 19 exemplary cases were selected for bonuses.

Meanwhile, the Lee Jaemyung administration has recently been pushing to invigorate the special performance bonus system, emphasizing bold rewards for public officials who achieve exceptional results. In a Cabinet meeting the previous day, President Lee, citing a special reward case at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "Give plenty of rewards and praise, and make them as public and high-profile as possible."

In addition to regular awards given every two months, the National Police Agency plans to conduct ad hoc rewards in parallel. Acting Commissioner General Yoo Jaeseong of the National Police Agency stated, "We will actively identify public officials who achieve exceptional results and establish an organizational culture in which 'those who perform well are always treated accordingly, and achievements are always rewarded.'"
