Assemblywoman Kang appeared at the Mapo office of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency at around 9:30 a.m. that day and left the interrogation room at around 8:45 p.m.
Assemblywoman Kang said, "I faithfully participated in the investigation," and added, "Once again, I bow my head in apology for causing concern to the people over this matter." She then said, "I am sorry," and got into the prepared car.
The police are said to have questioned Assemblywoman Kang about the parts where her statements differed from those of her former aide, a person surnamed Nam, and former city councilor Kim Kyung regarding the circumstances before and after the receipt of the 100 million won.
The investigation into the alleged nomination bribes is effectively in its final stage. The police are considering applying for arrest warrants for Assemblywoman Kang and others involved in order to secure their custody.
However, in the case of Assemblywoman Kang, she holds parliamentary immunity from arrest, which prevents her from being arrested or detained without the consent of the National Assembly while it is in session. Assemblywoman Kang did not answer reporters' questions on her way home about whether she would maintain her immunity from arrest.
