Jeong Cheolwon, Governor of Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, has called for the establishment of a response strategy regarding discussions on administrative integration between Gwangju and South Jeolla Province that puts the rights and interests of county residents first.
According to Damyang County in South Jeolla Province on February 3, the county held its February regular meeting the previous day at the county office's Myeonangjeong Room, with about 180 public officials in attendance, to review major county administration issues.
At the meeting, Governor Jeong referred to the provincial public hearing on administrative integration held in Damyang on January 28, stating, "We need to thoroughly analyze the county's circumstances, focusing on the dedicated organization in charge of responding to administrative integration," and added, "Above all, we will respond strategically, placing the rights and interests of county residents as our top priority."
Governor Jeong also designated February as the "month of execution." He said, "February is when the plans established at the beginning of the year begin to be fully implemented," and requested, "Please carry out your work with a strong sense of responsibility so that the county's key policy initiatives can lead to tangible results in the field."
Regarding the ongoing "Conversations with County Residents Visiting Each Village" program, he said, "Resolving inconveniences in residents' daily lives is the starting point of administration," and stressed, "Requests collected on-site must be handled promptly, and we must enhance trust in the administration through sufficient explanations."
He also ordered thorough preparations for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. Governor Jeong instructed officials to establish comprehensive measures in each sector, including transportation, safety, the environment, and protection of vulnerable groups, without any gaps, so that county residents can spend the holiday without inconvenience.
Meanwhile, at the meeting that day, the Damyang County Election Commission served as lecturer and conducted training on election law under the theme of banning public officials from engaging in election-related activities, emphasizing the duty of civil servants to remain politically neutral.
