Hanam City Launches "Integrated Support Council" to Strengthen Coordination of Medical, Long-term Care, and Support Services Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) held the appointment ceremony for the 'Hanam City Integrated Medical and Long-term Care Support Council' members and held the first meeting on the 29th at the Hanam City Hall Situation Room. This meeting marks the official starting point for integrating medical, long-term care, and support services into a single system. It was organized to share the direction of the integrated care policy and activate the public-private cooperation system, in line with the "Act on Integrated Support for Local Care Including Medical and Long-term Care," which is scheduled to take effect on March 27.

Currently, Hanam City has approximately 54,000 residents aged 65 or older, accounting for 16% of its total population of about 328,000. Among them, there are about 19,000 people aged 75 or older, leading to a rapid increase in demand for care that requires a combination of medical, long-term care, and support services.

In addition, with more than 4,200 people with severe disabilities residing in the city, the need to establish an integrated care system that encompasses both the elderly and people with disabilities is growing.

In response, Hanam City is working to transition from a care delivery model centered on individual services to an integrated support system that enables people to receive the necessary services seamlessly, at the right time. Starting with the signing of a business agreement with the Home Medical Center for Long-term Care in January 2026, the city has been gradually building a foundation for implementing the integrated care project.

The newly formed Integrated Support Council consists of 19 members, with the Mayor of Hanam serving as chairperson. It includes relevant public officials as well as representatives and experts from related organizations in the fields of health, medicine, long-term care, and welfare. The meeting began with the presentation of appointment letters to the appointed members, followed by a report and review of the 2026 implementation plan for the integrated medical and long-term care project.

Going forward, the Integrated Support Council will serve as a key consultative body that reviews and advises on plans and policies related to regional integrated care, and discusses coordination and cooperation among related institutions. It will play a role in reflecting diverse opinions from the field into policy and proposing practical alternatives.

A Hanam City official stated, "The Integrated Support Council is an important consultative body that will serve as the central axis of Hanam City's integrated care policy," and added, "Based on the experience of experts in each field and field-oriented opinions, we will build an integrated care system that citizens can truly experience."

The official also said, "We will do our utmost to make Hanam City a place where all citizens can continue to live a dignified life in their own homes, regardless of age or disability."
