Jangseong County Urges Residents to Apply for Military Noise Compensation

Jangseong County Urges Residents to Apply for Military Noise Compensation A view of Jangseong County Office in Jeonnam.

Jangseong County announced on January 29 that it will begin accepting applications for the "2026 Military Noise Compensation" under the Military Noise Compensation Act starting in February.

The compensation is available to approximately 470 residents who were registered and actually lived in Jinwon-myeon and Samgye-myeon noise control areas last year.

Residents can check if their address is eligible for compensation by searching for the "Military Noise Portal" on a portal site and entering their road name address.

To apply for compensation, applicants must prepare the application form and required documents and visit either the Environmental Division of Jangseong County or the relevant local Administrative Welfare Center in person. Applications can also be submitted by mail or through the Government24 website. The application form and detailed information are posted in the notices and announcements section of the Jangseong County website.

The monthly compensation amounts are as follows: up to 60,000 won for Category 1, 45,000 won for Category 2, and 30,000 won for Category 3. The total amount will be paid at once, taking into account the actual period of residence, the date of moving in, and the number of days shooting took place.

Jangseong County plans to pay the compensation by August, following a review by the Noise Control Committee at the end of May.

Kim Hanjong, Governor of Jangseong County, stated, "We will actively promote this program, including sending out informational notices, to ensure that every resident affected by military noise receives support without exception."
