"Creating a Safe Food Environment" ... Seongsan District Completes Inspections of Food Manufacturers and Sellers Ahead of Lunar New Year

Seongsan District in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, recently conducted hygiene inspections of food manufacturing and sales businesses ahead of Seollal, the traditional Korean Lunar New Year holiday.

This inspection targeted franchise restaurants as well as companies manufacturing and selling ritual and gift foods, which see increased demand during the Lunar New Year season.


The main focus of the inspection included: ▲whether products past their expiration date were being used or stored, ▲hygienic management of cooking facilities and utensils, ▲personal hygiene management such as wearing sanitary hats, masks, and conducting health check-ups, and ▲hygienic management of ingredient storage rooms, washing rooms, and manufacturing or processing rooms.


Kim Sooyoon, Head of the Culture and Hygiene Division, stated, "Through hygiene inspections of restaurants and manufacturing and sales companies with increased demand ahead of the Lunar New Year, we have strengthened food hygiene and safety management. We will continue to work toward creating a food environment where residents can enjoy their meals with peace of mind."
