Yeosu City Recruiting "Solo Dining Restaurants" Welcoming Solo Diners

Restaurants Designated for Single-Person Households and Solo Travelers
100 Locations to Operate by 2026

Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province, announced that it is recruiting "Solo Dining Restaurants in Yeosu City 2026" to promote the spread of solo dining culture, allowing solo tourists and citizens alike to dine comfortably.

The Solo Dining Restaurant initiative designates restaurants that are equipped with menu options, seating arrangements, and service environments suitable for solo diners. Last year, the city designated and operated 46 general restaurants under this program.

This year, Yeosu City plans to designate an additional 54 restaurants, with a goal of operating a total of 100 locations.

The city is expanding this initiative to respond to the increasing number of single-person households and the trend of solo travel, as well as to strengthen the city's tourism infrastructure in preparation for the Yeosu World Island Expo 2026.

Applications can be submitted from January 28 to March 3, via in-person visit, mail, email, or fax.

Priority will be given to establishments that serve Yeosu's signature dishes (such as marinated crab set, braised cutlassfish, and sliced raw tonguefish salad). The selection committee will designate general restaurants capable of serving single portions after a review process.

Selected Solo Dining Restaurants will receive a designation plaque and a Solo Dining Restaurant poster. They will also be eligible for various benefits, including incentives for designated establishments, and will be promoted through the Yeosu City website and "YeosuN."

A city official stated, "Through the designation of Solo Dining Restaurants, we aim to create an environment where single-person households and solo travelers to Yeosu can dine comfortably," adding, "We hope for the active participation of many establishments."
