[Market Focus] Securities Stocks Hit Consecutive Highs as KOSPI Surpasses 5,100 and KOSDAQ Breaks 1,100

With the KOSPI surpassing the 5,100 mark and the KOSDAQ breaking through 1,100, the bullish trend in the stock market continues, driving securities stocks higher. Throughout the trading session, many stocks repeatedly hit new 52-week highs.


As of 9:37 a.m. on January 28, Kiwoom Securities was trading at 402,500 won, up 12,000 won (3.07%) from the previous day. During the session, it climbed to 403,500 won, setting a new 52-week high. NH Investment & Securities was up 3.05% at 25,350 won, reaching as high as 25,500 won during the session and breaking its 52-week record. Korea Financial Group rose 1.96%, touching 210,000 won intraday to set a new 52-week high. Samsung Securities also hit a new 52-week high during the session at 89,400 won and was trading at 88,600 won, up 3.38%. In addition, DB Financial Investment (2.95%) and Kyobo Securities (1.46%) also set new 52-week highs during the session.


Ko Yeonsu, a researcher at Hana Securities, commented, "The average daily trading value in the domestic stock market has reached an all-time high, standing at 57.9 trillion won for January to date, and 71.7 trillion won based on the most recent five trading days. Securities stocks are seeing their discount rates adjust as the so-called 'Korea Discount' is being resolved."
