"Promoting Stray Animal Adoption" ... Goseong-gun Finds New Families for 127 Stray Animals

The New Animal Family Center Plays a Pivotal Role

Goseong-gun in South Gyeongsang Province has achieved a meaningful milestone, recording an adoption rate of approximately 92% as of 2025 through ongoing efforts to protect and promote the adoption of stray animals. The newly established Animal Family Center has played a central role in this achievement.

"Promoting Stray Animal Adoption" ... Goseong-gun Finds New Families for 127 Stray Animals Goseong County Animal Family Center.

According to the county on the 27th, a total of 138 stray animals were newly admitted in 2025, and 127 of them were adopted and welcomed into new families. This outcome is the result of strengthened health management for stray animals and improvements in the adoption linkage system, demonstrating that a culture of respect for life and responsible pet ownership is spreading throughout the local community.

In particular, the newly built Goseong-gun Animal Family Center this year is notable for its comfortable and hygienic environment. The center has systematically created spaces for different functions, including animal shelters, isolation rooms, and examination rooms, to minimize stress for the animals. Additionally, a dedicated counseling area allows prospective adopters to interact directly with the animals.

These environmental improvements have helped maintain the animals’ health in a stable manner and created conditions where prospective adopters can make adoption decisions with greater confidence, which is believed to have contributed to the high adoption rate.

Furthermore, Goseong-gun offers various benefits to encourage the adoption of stray animals. For animals that have been adopted, the county provides practical support such as free neutering, animal registration, and basic health checkups, reducing the burden on adopters and helping pets settle healthily into their new homes. These support policies are also playing a positive role in spreading a culture of responsible adoption.

In addition, the county is working to improve animal welfare and enhance residents’ leisure satisfaction by operating a pet playground where pets and their guardians can spend time together. The playground provides a safe space for dogs to run and play, helps improve their socialization and relieve stress, and serves as a place for pet owners to interact with one another.

Jeong Daehoon, Head of the Livestock Division, stated, “Achieving a 92% adoption rate for stray animals was made possible thanks to the warm interest and participation of our residents,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to focus on the Animal Family Center to ensure that stray animals are safely protected and can meet new families.”
