Sinan County Implements 50% Admission Discount as Mutual Cooperation Measure
Sinan County in South Jeolla Province has officially begun offering a 50% discount on admission fees to the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden for residents of Mokpo City, as part of efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation with the neighboring city.
According to the county on January 23, this discount is a follow-up measure based on the mutual cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Sinan County and Mokpo City on March 17, 2025.
The county has established an institutional basis for the discount by amending the "Sinan County Garden Management and Operation Ordinance," enabling Mokpo residents to visit the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden at half the regular admission price starting in 2026.
The 1004 Island Bonsai Garden is a leading garden tourism destination in the county, where visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers and bonsai throughout all four seasons. With this ordinance revision, the county expects that accessibility for Mokpo residents, who live in the neighboring city, will be significantly improved.
In particular, the opportunity to experience garden culture will be expanded not only for families but also for citizens seeking leisure and relaxation in their daily lives, which is expected to have a positive effect on revitalizing garden tourism.
A county official stated, "This admission discount is an example of practical benefits resulting from mutual cooperation between neighboring local governments," adding, "We will continue to promote the spread of garden culture and the revitalization of garden tourism to strengthen exchanges between regions and contribute to the local economy."
Meanwhile, the discount benefit is available at the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden ticket office upon presentation of identification proving Mokpo residency.
