One of the 73 Korean criminal suspects accused of committing fraud, armed robbery, and other offenses in Cambodia is scheduled to be investigated by the Gyeongnam Provincial Police.
On January 23, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced that it is currently escorting a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was apprehended in Cambodia and forcibly repatriated to Korea.
According to police, Mr. A is suspected of conducting online goods fraud in Korea in October 2024.
It is reported that he fled to Cambodia in August last year after the police investigation began.
Upon confirming Mr. A's escape, the police obtained an arrest warrant and requested a Red Notice from Interpol, actively pursuing him.
Mr. A is scheduled to be detained in the holding cell at Changwon Jungbu Police Station later this afternoon for investigation.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A and will investigate whether there are any additional criminal charges beyond goods fraud.
Earlier, the "Transnational Crime Special Response Task Force" forcibly repatriated 73 Korean suspects who had committed various crimes, including scams and armed robbery, in Cambodia back to Korea on the same day.
