Arriving at the Scene Before Residents in Every Moment of Crisis
Paek Jonghan, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council representing Hwajeong 3-dong, Hwajeong 4-dong, and Pungam-dong, commended the dedication of public officials working in disaster response, safety, civil affairs, and welfare on January 23, during a five-minute free speech at the 2nd plenary session of the 337th extraordinary meeting.
Paek stated, “In a situation where climate crises such as strong winds, heavy snow, torrential rain, and cold waves have become routine, public officials have been at the forefront of various urgent issues, including operating disaster and safety situation rooms, maintaining rivers, and protecting vulnerable groups.” He added, “It is public officials who arrive at the scene before residents in moments of crisis, and thanks to their dedication, the daily lives of residents have been protected.”
Furthermore, Paek emphasized, “When the safety and working conditions of public officials are guaranteed, the safety of residents can also be sustained.” He continued, “An administration that respects public officials who have quietly fulfilled their responsibilities, and one that puts people at its center, will become the strong competitive edge of Seo-gu.”
