Interview with Joo Kyun Jung, CEO of Daven AI
Permanent Preservation of Original Data and Creation Timestamp
Copyright Protection Now Possible for AI-Generated Works
"We have made it possible to permanently record the creative history of AI-generated characters on the blockchain, enabling copyright verification. This means that even if someone else tries to manipulate the data or falsely claim to have created it first, it will be of no use."
Joo Kyun Jung, CEO of Daven AI, said in an interview with The Asia Business Daily, "Korea has a strong advantage in soft power, including content. Through Daven AI's copyright verification service, creators can protect their rights to AI-generated outputs and work with peace of mind."
Daven AI offers a solution that allows users to create images, videos, scripts, and even compose music within minutes using simple prompts and a single click. Jung came up with the idea while teaching programming to support the livelihoods of children in Tanzania during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is currently based in the United States. He explained, "Africans are fluent in English, so I thought that with just a bit of technical training, they could produce content. That’s why I combined generative AI with creators."
However, Jung's thinking did not stop there. He began to consider how to protect the increasing number of AI-generated works in the future. Recalling his past experience of spending a year to gain recognition for his technology that converts real-world assets into digital tokens, he realized the need for AI-generated works to also have copyright protection.
He found the answer in blockchain-based digital assetization (RWA). Daven AI's copyright verification solution records the original data and creation timestamp of generated characters and content on a blockchain network. This provides irrefutable proof that "the content existed at a specific point in time" and "a specific individual created it." Blockchain guarantees data sovereignty and permanence.
He emphasized, "Aside from coin investments, blockchain hasn't been used as much as expected, but it has the characteristic of being permanently preserved on the network even if the platform disappears. It guarantees creators' data ownership and enables immediate tracking." He added, "Although many people have not experienced it yet, I believe both physical and intangible assets will be digitized."
Jung predicted that AI models will rapidly shift from general-purpose to vertical (specialized) applications. In line with this, once AI for creators is established, he hopes to expand into educational and consulting AI in the future. He said, "AI is replacing corporate consulting. There will be a market where people can access advanced information without incurring significant costs, and it will develop in various ways, such as paid and ad-supported models."
Now that generative AI is accessible to everyone, whereas AI used to be the exclusive domain of corporations, Jung hopes the government will create more pathways for overseas expansion. He stressed that Korea excels at combining existing elements to create something new, and government support is needed to help these results reach global markets. Jung said, "During the venture boom of the 1990s, there were no precedents, so everyone started from a similar point. Now, only a few large companies survive. To achieve innovation and competitiveness, we must go beyond Korea."
