Developing Tailored Crime Prevention Policies
Based on Surveyed Needs of Self-Employed Business Owners
On January 22, the Gumi Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province conducted a crime prevention campaign for about 100 members of the National Federation of Small Businesses Gumi Branch, focusing on preventing no-show fraud and voice phishing crimes, which have recently been occurring frequently.
Since self-employed business owners in sectors such as restaurants, retail, and lodging are highly exposed to both no-show fraud and voice phishing crimes, the campaign centered on preventive education based on actual cases and practical guidelines for responding to such incidents in daily life.

In addition, a survey was conducted among participating members to gather information on their experiences with no-show fraud and voice phishing, the types of crimes encountered, and their opinions on desired customized prevention activities in the future.
The results of the survey will be used to closely analyze the types of damages actually experienced by self-employed business owners and serve as foundational data for developing tailored crime prevention policies going forward.
Gumi Police Chief Yoo Ojae stated, "No-show fraud and voice phishing crimes often cause direct harm to the livelihoods of ordinary citizens," adding, "We will do our utmost to protect citizens' property by promoting customized prevention activities that reflect the voices of the community."
