Daejeon City will begin accepting public applications from January 27 for 80 young job seekers and recruiting companies to participate in the 2026 Youth Internship Support Program.

The Youth Internship Support Program provides local unemployed youth with opportunities for work experience through industrial field internships, supports career development by encouraging conversion to full-time positions, and helps local companies secure a stable workforce.

Eligible participants include small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies in Daejeon with at least five regular employees, research institute-affiliated companies in the Daedeok Innopolis, and unemployed youth aged 18 to 39 residing in Daejeon.

Through this program, job-seeking youth will work as interns at local industrial sites for three months and gain work experience, while participating companies will receive a monthly wage subsidy of 2 million won. Companies are required to pay interns at least the difference above the 2026 minimum wage.

Eligible interns must be unemployed youth as of the application date. Companies must comply with the minimum wage, including Daejeon City subsidies, enroll interns in the four major social insurances, and must not receive additional subsidies from the government or other sources.

Applications and detailed announcements can be found on the Daejeon Job Information Network, and further inquiries can be directed to the Daejeon Job Support Center.

Park Jehwa, Director of Economic Affairs for Daejeon City, stated, "The Youth Internship Support Program directly helps local youth build their careers and enhance their practical competitiveness through industrial field internships. We will further develop this initiative as a stepping stone for job-centered community retention by providing thorough post-program management and encouraging employment extension."

Last year, the Youth Internship Support Program aimed to recruit 80 participants and closed early in the first half of the year. Of the 78 interns who diligently participated for three months, four were converted to full-time positions at Ramilab, and a total of 60 interns found employment at 49 local companies.
