At the World Economic Forum (WEF, also known as the Davos Forum) in Switzerland, the sunglasses worn by French President Emmanuel Macron have become extremely popular.

According to Yonhap News, French luxury eyewear brand Henry Julien stated on January 22 (local time), "The Pacific model has received exceptional attention after President Macron wore it, resulting in an extraordinary level of visits and purchase requests on our online shopping site."

The sunglasses worn by President Macron are the 'Pacific S01' model from Henry Julien, priced at 659 euros (approximately 1.1 million won). The company posted several photos of these sunglasses, making sure to include a photo of President Macron. They further announced, "To ensure stable and secure access for all customers, we have temporarily activated a dedicated official page where this model can be purchased."

Stefano Fulchir, CEO of Ivision Tech, the Italian parent company that owns Henry Julien, told Reuters that he recognized the sunglasses worn by President Macron as the pair he had sent to Macron in 2024. He added, "This has certainly created a 'wow effect' on the stock price." In fact, on January 22, the share price of Ivision Tech, which is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, surged by about 28%, resulting in a temporary trading halt. This sharp rise in stock price increased the company's market capitalization by approximately 3.5 million euros (about 6 billion won).

According to the ?lys?e Palace, the French presidential office, President Macron suffered a burst blood vessel in his eye on January 20. To protect his eye, he wore sunglasses while delivering his speech at the Davos Forum. During his speech, he indirectly criticized the U.S. plan to incorporate Greenland, stating, "Europe will stand up to those who bully the weak and will not accept the 'law of the strong.'"

Following the speech, various memes related to the sunglasses spread online. There was also a positive reaction suggesting that, by criticizing Trump over the Greenland issue while wearing sunglasses reminiscent of the American film "Top Gun," Macron made a strong impression.

In response, on January 21, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked, "I saw President Macron yesterday, and he was wearing some cool sunglasses," adding, "I actually like him," which drew laughter from the audience. He then mocked Macron by saying, "Macron was just pretending to be tough."
