Gyeonggi Province is joining forces with licensed real estate agents in the province to create a safer transaction environment and prevent jeonse fraud.
On January 22, Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the "Gyeonggi Province Safety Jeonse Management Team Appointment Ceremony" at Yulgok Hall on the 4th floor of the provincial government building. The event was attended by Son Imseong, Director of Urban Housing at Gyeonggi Province, Yoo Youngil, Vice Chairman of the Urban Environment Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Park Taewon, Chairman of the Southern Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Association of Realtors, and Kim Yoonsik, Chairman of the Northern Gyeonggi Branch, among others.
The Safety Jeonse Management Team is a public-private joint organization formed to autonomously clean up the market, led by licensed real estate agents who are well-acquainted with the realities on the ground. Including 52 members from the Gyeonggi Province team, a total of about 1,000 people will be active across 31 cities and counties in the province.

Since last year, Gyeonggi Province has been carrying out the "Gyeonggi Safety Jeonse Project" to prevent jeonse fraud. Through this initiative, when tenants sign a jeonse contract, real estate agencies provide explanations of potential risks, checklists for tenants, verification of legal rights, and guidance on special contract terms. Over 18,000 licensed real estate agents in the province are participating in this project.
The Safety Jeonse Management Team will focus on monitoring whether participating real estate agencies are providing proper guidance as part of the Safety Jeonse Project. The team will also serve as "safety guardians" on the ground by monitoring illegal real estate activities, supporting joint guidance and inspections, conducting campaigns to prevent jeonse fraud, and identifying areas for improvement in real estate policy and systems.
Son Imseong, Director of Urban Housing at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "As jeonse fraud continues to threaten the lives of residents, your participation-being the ones who know the field best-is more important than ever. The Safety Jeonse Management Team is not just an inspection group, but a reliable partner responsible for ensuring residential safety in Gyeonggi Province."
By June, Gyeonggi Province plans to establish a "Safety Net Solution" that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the risk level of properties and landlords. The province will also display a "Safety Jeonse Guardian" mark on the Naver Real Estate platform, creating an environment where residents can conduct transactions with peace of mind.
