Kim Byungsoo: "Wants to Express Gratitude"
Gimpo City has launched an effort to find the couple who became the subject of a heartwarming story in the local community by treating a soldier fulfilling his national defense duties to a warm meal, even amid the recent cold wave.
This story came to light when a Marine from the 2nd Marine Division in Gimpo, referred to as "A," posted about it on an online community. The couple paid for the soldier's meal while he was dining alone and offered words of encouragement, saying, "You’re working so hard." The story spread through media reports and CCTV footage, touching many people.
The Marine expressed his sincere gratitude, saying, "Even in the subzero cold the next day, remembering that moment made me feel warm," and added, "Someday, I will be someone who gives back as well."
In response, Gimpo City plans to find the couple who quietly performed this good deed and elevated the pride of Gimpo citizens, in order to officially express the city’s gratitude and offer them due recognition.
Kim Byungsoo, Mayor of Gimpo, stated, "The couple’s act of kindness, showing consideration for others during difficult times, is a great asset to our city. I sincerely want to find the protagonists of this warm story and express our gratitude on behalf of Gimpo’s 500,000 citizens."
Gimpo City is awaiting contact from anyone who knows the couple or from the couple themselves. Citizens are encouraged to share any information, and related inquiries can be directed to the Gimpo City Hall Department of Autonomous Administration.
