Gwangju Bank Makes Special Contribution of 2.3 Billion Won to Support Small Business Financing in Gwangju

Up to 50 Million Won Per Business
Loan Term Up to 7 Years

Gwangju Bank announced on January 22 that it had signed an agreement at Gwangju City Hall for the “2026 Special Guarantee Loan Support Program for Small Business Owners,” attended by Kijeong Kang, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jilseon Jung, President of Gwangju Bank, Kyusong Yeom, Chairman of the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation, and other officials.

Through this agreement, Gwangju Bank made a special contribution of 2.3 billion won to expand financial support for small business owners (local merchants) in the Gwangju area. Using these funds, the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation will provide special guarantees totaling 46.6 billion won, and Gwangju Metropolitan City plans to offer interest subsidies of 3% to 4% for one year.

The special guarantee loan support is available to all small businesses, micro-enterprises, and self-employed individuals located in Gwangju, except for certain industries such as entertainment, gambling, and speculative businesses. Each business can receive up to 50 million won in support, with a loan period of up to seven years.

Applications for guarantees will be accepted starting January 26 through non-face-to-face channels, including the Gwangju Bank “WaBank” application and the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation’s “Bojeung Dream” app. For those who have difficulty applying online, in-person applications are also available at Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation branches.

Since 2020, Gwangju Bank has made a total special contribution of 9.3 billion won for small business owners in Gwangju Metropolitan City and has supplied special guarantee loans totaling 220.9 billion won. Last year, through various agreements such as the “Ddasum Hope Special Guarantee Business Agreement” and the “Women Entrepreneurs Financial Support Business Agreement,” the bank has continued to provide guarantees for local small business owners.

Jilseon Jung, President of Gwangju Bank, stated, “I hope this special guarantee will provide practical assistance to local small businesses and micro-enterprises facing financial difficulties due to the economic downturn. As the primary depository bank of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangju Bank will continue to work together with local small business owners and serve as a reliable pillar of the regional economy.”
