Chairman Park Sanggun of Honam University Donates 70 Million KRW to Chonnam National University Hospital for Development Fund

Honam University, operated by the Sungin Academy Foundation, announced on January 22 that Chairman Park Sanggun has donated 70 million KRW as a development sponsorship to Chonnam National University Hospital.

The donation ceremony was held on the morning of January 20 in the reception room on the second floor of the administration building at Chonnam National University Hospital. Attendees included Chonnam National University Hospital President Jeong Shin, Deputy Director Yoon Kyungcheol, Secretary-General Shim Joongsik, Director of External Cooperation Han Jaeyoung, Chief Nursing Officer Choi Okja, as well as Chairman Park Sanggun and his spouse from Sungin Academy (Honam University), Secretary-General Hwang Yongseon, and Manager Kim Yongpal.

With this latest donation, the total cumulative sponsorship from the Sungin Academy family to Chonnam National University Hospital has reached 100 million KRW. The relationship between the Sungin Academy family and the Chonnam National University Hospital Development Sponsorship Association began in 2017. At that time, they donated 30 million KRW in the name of the late Dr. Lee Hwaseong, Park's mother, expressing their commitment to respect for life and the advancement of public healthcare.

At the end of last year, Park's father, the late Park Kiin, founder and honorary chairman of Sungin Academy, received treatment at Chonnam National University Hospital. Moved by the dedicated care provided by the medical staff and the hospital, Chairman Park expressed his gratitude by making an additional donation of 70 million KRW.

Chairman Park Sanggun graduated from Songwon High School in Gwangju and the Business Administration Department at Seoul National University. He has contributed to societal development through both business management and educational administration. He currently serves as CEO of CI Housing Co., Ltd. and SCI Co., Ltd., and as a board member of the Korea Association of University Foundations, working to strengthen the public nature of higher education. In particular, he is putting into practice the foundation's founding philosophy of nurturing talent through education and giving back to the local community, now extending this spirit of sharing into the medical field.

Chonnam National University Hospital President Jeong Shin stated, "The noble generosity of the Sungin Academy family, passed down through generations, brings great inspiration and pride to everyone at Chonnam National University Hospital. The valuable sponsorship you have entrusted will be used meaningfully to provide the best medical services to local residents and to help the hospital lead the future of healthcare."

Chairman Park Sanggun said, "I am pleased to be able to put into practice the values of service and dedication to the local community that my parents always emphasized. Especially after witnessing my father receive treatment at Chonnam National University Hospital, I was once again reminded of the importance of our regional base hospital. I hope this donation will provide some support for the research of medical staff and the development of the hospital."
