◆ Sincerity Beyond Numbers: 5,346 Scholarship Donations

According to the Yeongcheon Scholarship Foundation, a total of 5,346 scholarship donations were made by citizens, organizations, and businesses throughout 2025.

The total amount reached approximately 900 million won.

This valuable resource was allocated and managed across 19 projects in five areas, including nurturing outstanding talent, welfare sharing, and responding to population decline.

As a result, a total of 849 students received about 870 million won in scholarships last year.

It is evaluated that the program not only provided financial support but also established a practical foundation for students to discover their own potential and take the next step forward.

◆ Beyond the Classroom Walls: Expansion of Experiential Scholarships

The benefits of the scholarships extended beyond the classroom.

In 2025, 92 students participated in overseas language programs in countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

The interest of the local community led students to a broader world, and the experiences gained in unfamiliar cultures became opportunities for them to grow into globally minded talents.

◆ The Beginning of Every Opportunity: Donors from All Walks of Life

At the heart of these scholarship projects were not just specific groups or a handful of sponsors, but the everyday choices of the people who make up Yeongcheon.

Stories of donations were diverse but shared the same spirit: a student who, after receiving a scholarship for outstanding entrance exam scores, donated again; a retreat center director who donated relief funds received for providing food and shelter to wildfire victims; grandparents who began a virtuous cycle of giving upon their granddaughter's college admission; and a senior citizen living alone who donated precious earnings from a senior job program.

An artists' group donated proceeds from their creative works and exhibitions, practicing talent sharing, while children who watched their parents give back saved their own allowances to contribute, further warming the meaning of the scholarships.

Additionally, local companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, construction and manufacturing firms, financial institutions, small business owners running pharmacies and daycare centers, and market merchants all participated in donations from their respective positions. Even former residents joined in to support the development of local talent.

The application deadline is March 10, and recipients will be selected through a fair review process.

Choi Kimoon, Chairman of the Yeongcheon Scholarship Foundation, stated, "Thanks to the heartfelt contributions of each and every citizen, Yeongcheon City's total donations surpassed 40 billion won last year, achieving an amazing milestone. Scholarships are the most valuable investment in children's futures. We will ensure transparent and fair scholarship administration so that the intentions of our donors are honored."
