On January 22, the city of Ansan in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will begin operating an 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Duty Voicebot' from January 26 to enhance convenience for citizens filing civil complaints.
The newly introduced AI Duty Voicebot is a system that uses voice recognition technology to automatically analyze civil complaints and provide immediate guidance and registration. It will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. on weekdays, as well as on weekends and public holidays.
The voicebot, in particular, applies speech-to-text (STT) technology so that all received complaints are recorded in text, helping to prevent any omissions. However, for those unfamiliar with AI automated responses or who require detailed consultation, the system allows immediate connection to on-duty staff, which the city explained is intended to minimize confusion during the initial rollout.
Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan, stated, "With the introduction of the AI Duty Voicebot, citizens can now access administrative services without time constraints," adding, "We will continue to implement various AI technologies across all administrative areas to achieve efficient and smart governance."
