Goryeong County and Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education Join Forces for "Goryeong Future Education District"

Goryeong County is partnering with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education to establish a future-oriented education system jointly created by the local community and schools.

On January 21, Goryeong County signed a business agreement with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education for the operation of the "Goryeong Future Education District" and announced that it will actively promote a region-based educational cooperation model.

The "Goryeong Future Education District" is an educational cooperation initiative that connects school education with local human and material resources to support students' learning and growth. It is jointly promoted by Goryeong County and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education through mutual collaboration. The core of the initiative is to expand the learning space beyond the boundaries of schools to encompass the entire community.

Under this agreement, the two organizations will establish a future education cooperation system involving both the community and schools, and will collaborate on: operating school-community linked curricula; expanding community-linked educational activities, including village schools; promoting educational cooperation projects that support students' career exploration, hands-on experiences, and growth; and providing administrative and financial support for the operation of the Future Education District.

Goryeong County will support school education by linking the region's historical and cultural resources and various educational infrastructure with educational activities, while the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education plans to systematically advance the Future Education District project by operating curricula connected to school sites, centered around the Goryeong Education Support Office.

An official from the county stated, "The Goryeong Future Education District is an educational cooperation initiative in which the community and schools jointly take responsibility for children's growth," adding, "We will closely cooperate with the Office of Education to create a future-oriented educational environment that leverages the unique characteristics of our region."

The Future Education District project is a core educational policy of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, aiming to strengthen students' competencies through collaboration between the local community and schools, and to promote the sustainable development of the region centered on education. It is drawing attention as an alternative model to address regional depopulation and the decline in the school-age population.
