Accelerating Entry into the North American B2B Laundry Market
LG Electronics is establishing a laundry experience space on a U.S. university campus to showcase its technological capabilities and promote its brand.
On January 20 (local time), LG Electronics opened the 'LG Laundry Lounge' at the dormitory of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States.
The LG Laundry Lounge is equipped with 16 commercial washing machines and 24 dryers, as well as LG OLED TVs, monitors, and air purifiers. Students can use the space as a community area to relax or enjoy content while waiting for their laundry.
This experience space has been set up in Fred D. Brown Hall, the largest dormitory at the University of Tennessee. Approximately 700 students reside in this dormitory.
LG Electronics opened the commercial laundry experience space "LG Laundry Lounge" at the dormitory of Tennessee State University in the United States on the 20th (local time). College students are using LG Electronics' commercial washing machines. LG Electronics.
The University of Tennessee is a prestigious institution representing Tennessee, where LG Electronics' U.S. manufacturing base is located. By donating products and equipment to the university for this project, LG Electronics aims to contribute to the local community as a corporate citizen while also promoting its product competitiveness and brand to the campus's approximately 40,000 students and 60,000 annual visitors.
The commercial washing machines installed in the LG Laundry Lounge feature LG Electronics' core component technologies, including the inverter direct drive (DD) motor. The inverter DD motor, which is directly connected to the drum, reduces vibration and noise, increases durability and energy efficiency, and ensures stable operation even with prolonged use by multiple users.
LG Electronics has also enhanced user convenience by providing a dedicated commercial laundry application called 'Laundry Crew.' Students can check in real time whether washers and dryers are available from their dorm rooms or classrooms, and manage their time more efficiently with laundry completion notifications.
LG Electronics is accelerating its efforts to capture the North American commercial laundry market. Last year, the company signed a supply contract with CSC Serviceworks, the leading laundry solutions provider in North America, which operates about 1.5 million commercial washers and dryers across the United States and Canada. Previously, LG Electronics also supplied products to Wash, the second-largest company in the sector, continuing its success in the B2B laundry market.
As an industry first, LG Electronics has applied a low-temperature dehumidification inverter heat pump to its all-in-one commercial washer-dryer, simultaneously improving drying performance and energy efficiency, thereby strengthening its technological leadership.
The company also provides management solutions for product administrators. Various features such as remote control, error notifications, and smart diagnostics enable real-time monitoring of product status, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring stable maintenance.
Decades of accumulated after-sales service capabilities are another strength. LG Electronics operates over 1,900 service centers across North America, providing prompt and professional maintenance services.
Kwak Doyoung, Executive Vice President and Head of North America at LG Electronics, stated, "Based on our industry-leading technological capabilities and brand reliability, we will continue to expand LG's differentiated customer experience in the commercial laundry market."
