Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, will host the "2026 Bucheon International 10km Road Race" on March 8.
The Bucheon Marathon, which has been held annually with a focus on citizen participation, has been renamed the "Bucheon International 10km Road Race" starting this year after receiving international certification. The event will feature two categories: a 10km internationally certified course and a 3.5km health run.
The "Bucheon International 10km Road Race," which is the 10km internationally certified course, is one of Bucheon City's flagship citizen-participation sports events. With international certification, the event aims to enhance its prestige and ensure that participants' records are officially recognized. The race is also intended to foster a healthy sports culture, improve citizens' physical fitness, and invigorate the local economy.

The "3.5km Health Run" will feature a "Cosplay Run" event to encourage voluntary participation. Runners can wear creative outfits or character costumes, and there will be a photo zone, small-scale events, and awards for outstanding participants at the venue.
Registration is open to all citizens until January 23 through the event's official website.
Notably, Lee Bongjoo, a former national marathoner, will participate as a pacemaker in this year's race. After completing the "Lee Bongjoo Recovery Marathon" in Bucheon in 2021 with the support of citizens, he expressed his intention to run alongside participants as a pacemaker.
Yoo Sungjun, Director of Culture and Sports at Bucheon City, stated, "This year's Bucheon International 10km Road Race has significantly enhanced its credibility and status through international certification. We will ensure that it becomes a sports festival everyone can enjoy by providing official record certification and a variety of on-site events for citizens."
