Seongju County Sets New Export Record, Surpasses $1.1 Billion for the First Time

Top Among Counties in North Gyeongsang, Seventh Overall in the Province
Emerging as an Urban-Rural Complex City

Last year, Seongju County's regional export volume surpassed 1.1 billion dollars for the first time in history, setting a new record.

According to the Korea International Trade Association, Seongju County's exports last year totaled 1.13 billion dollars (approximately 1.7 trillion won), an increase of about 9% compared to the previous year.

This figure ranks seventh in North Gyeongsang Province and marks the highest among county-level local governments.

By category, machinery, steel, and related parts accounted for the largest share, followed by automobile parts and electronic devices as major export items.

Seongju County has actively pursued a variety of policies to strengthen its export base in line with continued export growth.

The county has worked to enhance the competitiveness of export companies through multifaceted support policies, including expanding operating funds for small and medium-sized enterprises (ranked second among counties in 2025), providing support for overseas logistics costs, and exploring new export markets.

In particular, Seongju County has shifted from a traditional export support approach focused on overseas buyer meetings to a demand-driven support system that reflects the needs of businesses, such as prototype production, export credit insurance premium support, overseas market research, and marketing and sales cost assistance, resulting in tangible export achievements.

As a result of these efforts, Seongju County was selected as an outstanding local government for exports in North Gyeongsang Province at the 62nd Trade Day held last year, once again demonstrating its growth potential as an urban-rural complex city where agriculture and industry are harmoniously integrated.

A Seongju County official stated, "Surpassing 1.1 billion dollars in exports is an achievement jointly created by the administration and local businesses," adding, "Despite the global economic slowdown and uncertainties in the trade environment, we will further expand export support tailored to business needs to actively back corporate growth."
